What my kid is reading. August 2019.

Because I don't get to read for myself very often I decided to create some posts about what we have been reading with my (almost) 3 year old!

Stuff he is INTO right now includes; pirates, dinosaurs, sharks, and dragons.

For the past two weeks we have been reading a rotation of the same three books, and that is fine, I know repetition is important.

Here they are:

"Don't Mention Pirates" by Sara McConnell.

1631899

Despite the fact she and her family live in a ship-shaped house (really, it's shaped like a ship), Scarlet Silver is forbidden from even mentioning pirates. This is on account of her Grandma Long Joan Silver being accidentally eaten by a giant shrimp! One day Scarlet finds a nugget of gold and her whole family gets bit by the treasure finding bug, eventually they all have to admit that they are indeed cut out for the pirate lifestyle.

"Pirasaurs!" by Josh Funk

This fun rhyming book combines Dinosaurs AND Pirates, what more could a kid ask for. Join the Pirasaurs for an adventure upon the seven seas sprinkled with plank walking, treasure hunting and even some mutiny! Can the dinos work together to find the buried treasure? Maybe they should listen to their newest recruit for some sound advice.

"Go Sleep in Your Own Bed" by Candance Fleming and Lori Nichols

32287850. sx318

Admittedly I scooped up this title because we have gone through 4 months of toddler bedtime rebellion hell!

I thought with a title like this maybe I can convince him subconsciously that his bed is the best place to sleep. In this book, set on a farm we see all the animals settling in for a nice nighttime snooze. The only problem, each animal keeps finding someone in their bed. Filled with animals noises that kids can practice guessing this book is a great read aloud for toddlers!
