Holds List: Most Anticipated
Do you ever get in that cycle of having books checked out, reading them, eyeing other books, putting those on hold and pining for them while you are STILL reading other books? Just me? Ok.
Here are some titles that I am VERY excited to get my hands on!
Kate in Waiting by Becky Albertalli - Pub Date 4/20/21
Becky Albertalli is back! I am so excited to read something new from her. I love her Simon and Leah on the OffBeat titles. I hope this book does well as Becky seems like an awesome human and has recently faced some vicious internet hate. Read this Twitter thread to see what happened.
Theatre kids who are besties that have their friendship tested when their long distance crush shows up at their high school? Sounds like a fun read to me. Honestly I am in it for the theatre kid angle.
Finding Junie Kim by Ellen Oh - Pub Date 5/4/2021
I have never read an Ellen Oh book but her latest middle grade novel sounds so personal that it intrigues me. I cannot find the interview I remember first seeing but she did a great one for Publisher's Weekly talking about the process for this book.
In Finding Junie Kim, a young girl is inspired by her grandparent's of growing up during Korean War to confront racist bullying at school. Oh, and this cover is GORGEOUS!
Pumpkin by Julie Murphy - Pub Date 5/25/2021
The 3rd installment of the Dumplin series. I preordered this automatically. I was a huge Dumplin fan, got to see Julie at a bookfest and her personality matches her fun books. Murphy is so good at creating warm hearted books that teens and readers can relate to.
Eat Your Heart Out by Kelly Devos - Pub Date 6/29/2021
Shaun of the Dead meets Dumplin. Ok, so you already know from above that I loved Dumplin. But cross it with Shaun of the Dead and I hit that "Want to Read" button on GoodReads before even finishing the description, I mean come on! A promised blend of horror, body positive and humor, sign me up!
Rise to the Sun by Leah Johnson - Pub Date 7/6/2021
After ALL the warm fuzzies I got from her debut You Should See Me in a Crown I immediately googled when this amazing Hoosier author was releasing her next book. "Four days, two girls. One-life changing music festival." Summer love at a music festival, sounds like a fantastic summer read. Let's do it!
