Falling in Love, with Romance books!

If you had asked me a year ago if there was a genre I swore that I would NEVER read, I would have said Romance. Women swooning, men who fictionally perfect, and the steamy scenes, no way. Nope, not for me!

How time changes all things. After a coworker went through an unthinkable and tragic loss this past summer some place in my brain decided to (healthily) dissociate by picking up The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory. A fake dating trope sprinkled with VERY steamy scenes and a rom-com feel.

                              The Wedding Date

I was hooked. Since then romance titles have become a large staple of my reading the second half of this year. I even suggested to my husband that he and I figure out a title to read together so he can see why I am picking up and finishing these stories in 2-3 days.

Together we choose In a Holidaze by the duo Christina Lauren. I LOVED The Unhoneymooners and am hoping I enjoy this one as much. Our life lately has been a series of high and some really low lows this past month, I hope to once again spark some joy by burying my nose in a romance novel.

Here are some other favorites from this year:

One Last Stop by Casey McQuistion

A girl falls for the cool girl stuck in time on the New York subway? Perfect amount of romance and Marty McFly vibes.

The Worst Best Man by Mia Sosa

Enemies to lovers is a trope I am really starting to love. The descriptions of food in this book alone are worth the read.

If the Shoe Fits by Julie Murphy

Ms. Murphy, what can I say I will probably read everything you write. This Cinderella retelling set in modern day LA on a Bachelor type reality TV show is fun and the perfect amount of rom-com to squeeze your heart.

Payback's a Witch by Lana Harper

This was a great autumnal read with lots of Triwizard Tournament feels in there. Three witches team up to get back at a man who scorned them all. Two of the witches fall in love.

I cannot wait to see what 2022 brings with Romance titles!
